So, just recently I graduated from high school. (woot woot!) And as a graduation gift, my enormously generous grandparents vied to get me a Cintiq!!! So now I have this fabulous peice of equipment I play with any chance I get-but I'm still painting digitally at the same level as before. This, of course, is not unexpected, or even particularly surprising. But I still feel frustrated because to have this silly notion that now that I have professional-grade equipment, I should be producing professional-quality work.

A quick scan of newb-level work will tell me I am not the only amateur artist who is under this misconception.

I feel as though I have plateau'd to can no longer rely on tutorials and my own ability to excel; I've taken it as far as it will go. Luckily, I keep telling myself, all of these traits I so admire in the work of my heroes I will learn in college-if not by being taught, then by doing.

I'm only 18! I have time to figure all this stuff out! The sooner I get THAT through my head, the better.

Meanwhile, my personal computer is in intensive surgery because to thought it was a good idea to install Linux on the machine that Cj & I use for ALL of our projects, including Asylum Labs and his games & music. This, boys and girls, is what we in the business of calling things call "sabotage."

I'm an lD10T.

So, while I have pages for Asylum Labs ready, because P can't access my ftp without my username & password, I won't be updating until I hear back about my computer.

In the meantime, Is will pace the waiting room floor anxiously and doodle on my gorgeous Cintiq.
